Phuture Design rebrands as Look North - Website Creative and Technology Studio

You may or may not have heard, but Phuture Design Inc. is now Look North Inc. - Website Creative and Technology Studio. The change comes after years of attempting to explain the meaning behind Phuture Design. The truth is, there never really was a meaning. Phuture Design began as a domain name I purchased in college. I used the domain to learn and experiment with web design and emerging Internet technologies by building small websites for professors and family members. After college, I continued to use the Phuture Design name to work on freelance projects. When it was time to start my own studio, it simply became the name of our company.

After years of good service it became apparent that we had simply outgrown the name. After working with many clients on many projects we learned a lot about our business and the fundamentals that made us successful. The name would be fine if it didn't have two major flaws.

First, it's not logically spelled. The "PH" combination was catchy early on, but the novelty quickly wore off. Having to spell the name each time it is introduced became a hassle, and a hurdle. It wasn't clear - and that was against our ideals of clean, clear communication.

Second, having the word "Design" in the name of the company placed emphasis on a particular service we offer rather than on our process and fundamentals. By renaming our business and realigning our process and service offerings slightly we believe we are better suited to serve existing clients and attract new ones.
